GALLIPOLI GAMES TO BE HELD FOR WORLD PEACE

The event organizers of Gallipoli Games 2015 have announced the inaugural competition, which was to be held between 25-29 April 2015, will now be in the upcoming dates.

The organizing committee have come to the conclusion the Games’ motto, “On the land their ancestors sacrificed their lives, they’re now competing for peace”, would be better fulfilled by rescheduling to another date.

Gallipoli Games Co-Chair Omer Mutlugün said while it’s greatly unfortunate the Games cannot be held this month, the rescheduling of the event will allow it to receive the international recognition it deserves.

“We’re looking forward to hosting the university student athletes from Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Germany, India and France later,” he said.
“The Games’ motto will now be completely fulfilled.”

“We do, of course, share the disappointment of the athletes, coaches and delegation officials from the seven participating countries who’ve put a lot of hard work and energy into preparing for the Games. The university sports federations in particular have been incredibly supportive and like us, excited since the first day we proposed this competition to them. We have no doubt that with more time to prepare, the rescheduled event will be a success and one that we can all be very proud of.”

The event organizers said the new dates of the Gallipoli Games will be announced soon.
